Design public seating for urban environments that address the right to repair.
approach
When researching city culture, it became clear that what makes a city beautiful is its diversity of people and their lifestyles. With this in mind, I wanted to create a multifunctional public furniture system that caters to the unique lifestyles of individuals and families living in urban environments. As opposed to the traditional park bench, a modular, multi-level, seating system complements the city’s diversity by creating a communal space where people can sit, stand, work, eat, or even take a moment to wait for their Uber. Multi Bench’s flexible functionality encourages outdoor activities by providing a temporary space for leisure suitable for every occasion.
Public seating for families living in cities
The average park bench found in most cities today fits up to two people and don’t meet the needs of people living in cities today. They can be incredibly isolating and serve the sole purpose of sitting when in reality, modern families need convenient spaces to engage with their community, share a meal, and relax with their entire families.
